June 08 News

With just 4 months to go (we seem to be getting there incredibly quickly) I thought I’d take the opportunity to write to everybody individually to share my reflections on how we are doing.

Personally I am very pleased with where we are, I think we have a great bunch of people coming on the walk, I’m delighted with the money we have raised so far, which at over £50,000 already exceeds my initial expectations, Afrikids are proving to be a great charity partner both in their endless enthusiasm and their fundamental approach, I have great confidence that Ady (from Across the Divide) will lead us safely to the top of the mountain and back down, that we’ll have a great time staying in the Jardins de la Koutoubia and enjoying Marrakech.

In the past few months I have been focusing upon creating momentum behind the walk. I’m now very confident that whatever we do over the next few months, the walk is and will be a great success. So my main focus now is to make the most of the opportunity and enjoy the challenge that we’ve all set off on. Yes, I’d like to keep the fundraising going and for all of us to get fit enough to enjoy the walk, but personally I’m determined to have as much fun as I can in doing this.

I realise that some of you still don’t know each other that well so at the next walkers meeting (6.00 on July 1st at my flat we’ll spend most of the time socialising (if it’s sunny we’ll have a barbecue) as well as having an opportunity to meet Kelly and hear what a difference the money we have raised is already making.

I hope to see you on the 1st. As ever do give me a call if I can be of help with anything or you have any questions.

Cheers

Alistair
